The Flagler
Corporation was founded in October, 1949 by Roy G.
Flagler.
Roy
had previously held the position of Works Manager for a
large machine tool company that produced machinery for
the HVAC Industry.
Roy
founded the business around the 22 Ga. Portable
Pittsburgh machine, which still uses 95% of the same
components as the original machine.
He then continued to add more machines to the
Standard Line of products along with designing and
building custom roll form products.
He remained as the head of The Flagler
Corporation until his death in 1969.
Harley J.
Flagler,
Roy
’s only son and current President of The Flagler
Corporation has been at Flagler all of his adult life.
In order to gain a full understanding of The
Flagler Corporation Harley worked in manufacturing and
performed many jobs while learning the business.
Harley was Vice President of Engineering from the
mid 1960’s until the mid 1970’s when he became
President and General Manager.
Upon becoming
President of The Flagler Corporation, Harley streamlined
the manufacturing process, improved coordination between
departments and maximized inventory control.
Harley also worked closely with his distributor
network and factory representatives for the Standard
Line of machinery increasing both the customer base and
satisfaction.
Harley’s
two sons, Frank and Harley Jr. both work at The Flagler
Corporation. Frank,
the eldest son has worked at Flagler for over 20 years
and is responsible for Purchasing as well as the
CNC
Lathe department. Harley Jr., is the current Vice
President, is in charge of Sales and Engineering.
